Watkins Steel at the 2021 Lord Mayor’s Business Awards

In October 2021, Watkins Steel attended the Lord Mayor’s Business Awards at Brisbane City Hall to celebrate the outstanding successes and accomplishments of Brisbane businesses and business people across various sectors, as well as their contribution to Brisbane’s economic growth. Watkins Steel was lucky enough to take out two of the evening’s titles; the ISPT Award for Investment in Brisbane and the Optus Enterprise Platinum Award.

Firstly, Watkins Steel was awarded the ISPT Award for Investment in Brisbane which recognises our innovation and investment in the application of robotics and extended reality technologies to our workflow.

“They have adapted to changing technologies and since 2015 have invested $6 million in technologies to automate their process and create a digital workflow that is unique to them.”

– Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner

Furthermore, Watkins Steel took out the overall title of the evening, the Optus Enterprise Platinum Award, which was between all award winners of the night. This additional win reinforces that we are leading the way in technology and innovation in our industry. The company’s investment in digital transformation has changed the services we provide, offering a point of difference to traditional steel fabricators.

Watkins Steel is proud to have our journey of digital transformation and the hard work of our employees recognised with these prestigious awards.
