Finalist in the Lord Mayor Business Awards 2019
Watkins Steel has been named a finalist in the Queensland Urban Utilities Award for Product Innovation. This award is one of 11 categories in the 2019 Lord Mayor’s Business Awards (LMBA).
Watkins Steel has been shortlisted for this award by demonstrating innovation and competitiveness in the Australian steel manufacturing industry through continued investment in technology, which is creating significant advancements in the business.
We believe that we have embraced the realm of mixed reality (virtual/augmented reality) with the use of 3D Scanning Technology, Microsoft HoloLens, Oculus Rift and Drone technology which to our knowledge has never been experimented within the steel manufacturing industry. We saw an opportunity to be able to use this technology as part of our steel manufacturing process, incorporating it into our communication and design methods, as well as fabrication and installation.
Winners from each category of the 2019 Lord Mayor’s Business Awards will be announced at the Awards Gala Dinner on Friday, 18 October 2019.
